January DTS(2016); Ready for Asia & Africa Off to Outreach

We all become excited with the beginning of a new year and make resolutions, goals and commitments. Isn’t it crazy to see how fast time has flown and the first quarter of 2016 is already over? As we now head into the second quarter, we are also not far off from sending our January DTS on outreach overseas.

This January DTS has been a really interesting school so far and we’ve seen God working in multiple areas. It began the 29th of January as a smaller school with just 6 students from USA, Australia, South Africa and Germany. By the end of week 2, we had an additional 2 students from Brazil! This DTS will go down in the history books of YWAM Sydney Island Breeze as the first school to successfully have a student visa granted for someone from a Category B country (Brazil). But God is faithful and the visa was granted!

The DTS is currently having two weeks away from our campus. They have gone to the outback for a week and are currently learning about Spiritual Warfare. They are living with an Indigenous family and doing ministry to local Indigenous people at the same time. It’s really good outreach preparation for them, as no one has cell phone reception out there. Then, they will head over to YWAM Byron Bay and do a joint week of lectures with the DTS over there.

On the 25th of April, the DTS will fly out to India on the first leg of their outreach. They’re a lucky group and will be traveling to 3 different countries for their outreach, something we don’t usually do – India, South Africa and Zimbabwe. It’s going to be an action-packed 3 months of outreach! Out of the 10 people on the team (8 students, 2 staff), 3 people are still trusting God for their finances and haven’t been able to book flights yet. Please keep them in your prayers!

DTS is a time to grow, and the growth happens in different areas and on varying levels. One of the best parts about witnessing students go through their journey on DTS is seeing the change happening within them. There is healing, restoration, forgiveness, acceptance – and best of all, a true revelation of who God is and all that He has done for us. It’s amazing to see countenances change as students begin to dive into deeper relationships and hunger to know God more.

That’s why we do what we do! We want to see people come to know God and develop a great passion to make Him known wherever they go. If you want to embark on this journey, or know someone who does, our next DTS begins April 15th and July 1st.

See you in Sydney!
