YWAM SYDNEY ISLAND BREEZE
Youth With A Mission Sydney Island Breeze (YWAM SIB) is based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. This particular Campus focuses on training students to serve those in need,
With distinct emphasis on a equipping young people from all nations, with an emphasis on seeing our first nations people of Australia and Pacific Islanders to also become leaders and role models in the communities, both locally and internationally.
The journey of YWAM SIB began on April 1, 2007, driven by a sense of divine calling. This journey took root in Sydney, often called “the gateway” to nations, strategically re-establishing a YWAM ministry presence in Western Sydney, an area marked by economic challenges
The story unfolds in 2006, with God prompting Etienne Pieterse and his family to pioneer the YWAM ministry in Sydney, following its closure a few years prior. In March 2007, Etienne, accompanied by his wife Tania and their children Chloe and Elisha, Alongside the Pieterse family with three amazing young women, Lisa, Fiona and Connie were part of the pioneering team of this new ministry. Remarkably, they set out without a place to stay, guided solely by their faith in God’s calling. The arrival of the first outreach team in Sydney marked a turning point. Their first task was building the beds they would sleep in, a task they accomplished in a house acquired on the very same day. Their effort earned recognition as “the best outreach they ever had” by a seasoned leader. Just as all visitors to YWAM SIB become part of a larger movement, this pioneering journey took its first steps.
May 2007 marked the beginning of ten days of prayer at the YWAM SIB base. During this period, God shaped an atmosphere characterized by prayer, worship, and the Word. His presence was tangible, not only impacting the ministries but also transforming the land and the lives of those engaged. Healing, revival, and salvation touched thousands of individuals, both nationally and internationally.
Today, YWAM SIB continues to fulfill its mission of reaching the lost, training Christians, and making a global impact daily. Their mission can be succinctly summarized as “To know God and make God known,” with a vision of seeing “This generation transformed and mobilized into their God-given destiny.”
